The United States is not only one of the world’s largest consumers of energy, we are also “a leader in the production and supply of energy.” The U.S. Energy Department is committed to helping grow America’s manufacturing industry. Their goal is to help companies continue to grow and remain “leaders in the production of energy technologies such as electric vehicles, LED bulbs and solar panels.” The Energy Department is encouraging collaborative efforts in R&D among businesses and educational institutions. Encouraging manufacturers to increase their competitiveness with more plants that are energy efficient and partnering with “industry, small business, universities and other stakeholders” to further invest in new and emerging technologies that have the “potential to create better quality manufacturing jobs in the USA and at the same time keep the United States competitive in the global market.
